Lakewood Liquor and Fermented Malt Beverage Licensing Authority

Lakewood Liquor and Fermented Malt
Beverage Licensing Authority

Changes Proposed for Liquor Ordinance/Authority

The Lakewood Liquor and Fermented Malt Beverage Licensing Authority is a quasi-judicial body, which makes decisions on the granting or refusal of licenses for the sale of malt, vinous, or spirituous liquors. It conducts hearings on alleged violations of local and state laws pertaining to alcohol and beer and imposes sanctions as necessary. Decisions of the Liquor Authority may be appealed to the Jefferson County District Court.

As necessary, the Authority will convene as the Arcade Licensing Board for the purpose of granting arcade licenses; as the Massage Parlor Licensing Board, for the purpose of granting licenses to operate a massage parlor, and as the Pawnbroker Licensing Board, for the purpose of conducting hearings on alleged violations within the City of Lakewood.

Ordinance O-73-114 established the Lakewood Liquor and Fermented Malt Beverage Licensing Authority in 1973. The Authority follows the guidelines established by the Colorado Revised Statues 12-46, 12-47, and 12-48.

The Authority consists of seven members. Five members are appointed by ward (one from each ward) and two members are appointed at-large. Terms are three years in length and Authority members may serve two terms. The Lakewood Liquor and Fermented Malt Beverage Licensing Authority terms expire on March 31st.
