Developed
in
partnership
with
residents
and
neighborhoods,
Lakewood's
Framework
Plan
identifies
areas
of
concern,
mitigations
to
be
included
in
the
Regional
Transportation
Districts
Environmental
Impact
Statement,
and
design
concepts
related
to
the
potential
implementation
of
light
rail
transit
along
West
13th
Avenue
in
Lakewood.
The
Framework
Plan
gave
direction
to
the
Regional
Transportation
District
in
the
development
of
the
Environmental
Impact
Statement
for
the
West
Corridor.
The
purpose
of
the
Framework
Plan
is
to
ensure
that
the
neighborhood
concerns
are
effectively
mitigated.
The
proposed
implementation
of
light
rail
transit
in
Lakewood
would
have
a
substantial
impact
on
residents
and
businesses.
The
City
of
Lakewood
is
committed
to
working
with
residents
and
businesses
so
that
light
rail
transit
would
result
in
the
least
amount
of
negative
impacts
and
would
be
an
asset
to
the
neighborhoods,
the
city
and
the
region.
While
there
are
many
unknowns
associated
with
the
implementation
of
light
rail
transit,
the
goals
of
this
plan
address
issues
identified
through
surveys
and
workshops.
If
the
light
rail
line
is
implemented,
specific
impacts
will
be
addressed
on
a
case-by-case
basis
by
a
team
comprising
City
of
Lakewood
staff,
RTD
staff,
representatives
from
the
registered
neighborhood
organizations,
and
interested
residents
and
business
owners.
Lakewood
is
currently
in
the
process
of
developing
plans
for
the
lands
near
the
proposed
RTD
stations
that
will
have
parking
associated
with
them.
