The North Alameda Area Plan was adopted in September 1998. The North Alameda Area is a well-established residential neighborhood in the center of Lakewood. It is bounded by Sheridan Boulevard, Wadsworth Boulevard, 6th Avenue and Alameda Avenue. The neighborhood is characterized by single-family homes, wide streets, and many large trees. The 27-acre O'Kane Park is situated in the heart of the neighborhood. Challenges facing this neighborhood include high traffic speeds on some residential streets, the need for improved bicycle and pedestrian safety, the desire to maintain the low-density character of the neighborhood, and the importance of maintaining the surrounding business corridors.
