2008 Sustainability Award Winners
The Golden Hill Office Centre and the RMH Group for their LEED-EB project and photovoltaic system
The RMH Group’s pursuit of LEED-EB certification for the Golden Hill Office Centre has included both the development of an office recycling program along with a photovoltaic system upgrade and numerous other “green” programs. The office building was a model of energy efficiency when built in 1983. RMH’s Group’s effort to update to meet today’s standard for sustainable design has earned them this City of Lakewood Sustainability Award.
The Coyote Gulch Stream Restoration, a cooperative project completed by the City of Lakewood, Jefferson County, The Bear Creek Watershed Association and Urban Drainage and Flood Control Distruct
This restoration project was headed up by Jefferson County, the Bear Creek Watershed Authority, Urban Drainage and Flood Control District and the US Army Corps of Engineers working in partnership with the City of Lakewood. The project realigned and restored Coyote Gulch resulting in better water quality, erosion control, educational, ecological and recreational benefits.
Dale and Leslie Miller, Sustainable Home Construction
Dale and Leslie Miller constructed their new home considering wise use of resources, energy-efficiency, long-term sustainability and aesthetic appeal. The home is designed to use zero fossil fuels in daily operations utilizing both passive solar design and active solar technology.
