North Kipling Strategic Plan
The North Kipling Strategic Plan study area included properties north of 6th Avenue, south of 26th Avenue, east of Oak Street, and west of Garrison Street. The area differs from existing corridor planning areas (Colfax, Alameda, Wadsworth) because of the high number of residential properties fronting Kipling. Also, commercial uses tend to be concentrated around major intersections.
With these issues in mind, input was sought from City of Lakewood departments including Community Planning & Development, Public Works, and Community Resources. Other relevant organizations were also contacted including City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation District, and Jefferson County. The public was involved through the use of business and resident surveys, a steering committee comprised of residents and business owners, and two open houses. The Plan was developed from the input and the analysis of the study area. The Plan will be used to guide land use decisions in development review, assist with capital project prioritization, and provide direction for new beautification programs.
