Wadsworth Boulevard serves the City of Lakewood as a primary office and retail corridor. It serves the transportation needs of local residents and also provides residents with regional access between south Jefferson County and Broomfield. As a primary office and retail corridor, it is an important asset to the City as a facility for the movement of people and goods and as a major source of City sales tax revenue.
The planning process involved an analysis of existing conditions and future needs, a review of adopted plans, and citizen input. A technical analysis team was formed with representatives from City departments including Development Review, Traffic Engineering, Community Resources, Urban Design, and Economic Development. The technical analysis team also included representatives from the City of Wheat Ridge, Jefferson County, and the Colorado Department of Transportation. Citizen input included surveys, newsletters, open houses, focus groups, and articles in local media publications.
