Lakewood provides an excellent environment for 21st century educational opportunities. The city also provides a rich source of well-educated employees. We have one of the most highly educated workforces in the country, with SAT and ACT scores well above the state average.
Public Schools
There are 10 public high schools in or near Lakewood, five middle schools, and more than 20 elementary schools. Lakewood is proud to be home to three schools for special-needs children and 13 private schools. Jefferson County Public Schools is supported by a committed school board, involved parents and a caring community which all help to provide an eduaction that prepares all children for a successful future. With an enrollment of over 85,000, the school district is the largest in Colorado, offering a variety of learning opportunities to meet the diverse needs of Lakewood and Jefferson County.
