“The City of Lakewood offers a wide variety of opportunities for both businesses and residents. We have an educated population, existing and planned multi-modal transportation systems, historic neighborhoods, vast public parks, open space, and a thriving arts and cultural community, all located just 10 minutes from downtown Denver and 10 minutes from the mountains. Lakewood is a diverse community with something to offer everyone.”
– Lakewood Mayor Adam Paul
Ideally situated between downtown Denver and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Lakewood is Colorado’s fifth largest city. We are part of Jefferson County, a hub for new energy and technology companies and organizations. Lakewood has more than 147,000 residents and covers approximately 44 square miles. Surrounded by several leading universities and research facilities, Lakewood has one of the most highly educated workforces in the country, with 36 percent of our residents holding a bachelor’s degree or higher.
The city has dedicated more than 7,000 acres to parks and open space, with approximately 80 miles of hiking and biking trails. We are a community with a strong entrepreneurial spirit with thriving small businesses: 87 percent of our businesses have fewer than 20 employees. We are also the location of choice for corporations such as Terumo BCT, HomeAdvisor, The Integer Group, Kinder Morgan, Abengoa Solar and many more. Lakewood is also home to more than 8,000 federal employees and has the largest concentration of federal agencies outside of Washington D.C. We celebrate our great cultural diversity and have recently been awarded the prestigious national All-America City Award and the first-ever All-America City Diversity award for our inclusive spirit.
