Community Resources

The Department of Community Resources is responsible for providing recreation and leisure activities to the Lakewood community. Our goal is to provide exceptional facilities and programs that make this city an outstanding place to live. Community Resources has seven divisions that provide the following:

114 parks with 240 miles of shared use trails.
Four recreation centers and a community center.
Two golf courses.
Indoor and outdoor performing arts venues.
A museum and visual art galleries.
Early childhood services, including Head Start.

Imagine Tomorrow! Arts, Parks and Recreation for All(PDF, 61MB), the department’s 2023 master plan, will chart the course for the next 10 years for arts, parks and recreation in Lakewood. Following a 14-month public engagement process, the plan goals and recommendations were identified based on community feedback(PDF, 4MB).

Enjoy holiday lights, cookies & hot cocoa, visits with Santa and holiday merriment with fellow Lakewood community members at this annual free celebration.

Sounds Exciting! Summer Concert Series

The annual Cider Days festival celebrates Lakewood’s agricultural heritage with an entertaining mix of live performances, vintage tractors, activities and tasty harvest treats.

Cops That Cook Pancake Fundraiser

Cops That Cook is back. Stop by for pancakes prepared by City of Lakewood Police! Proceeds go to a special cause selected each year.

Big Belmar Bash

Celebrate Independence Day with a community celebration in Belmar, the heart of Downtown Lakewood including live music, kids' activities, local vendors, food and drinks! Festivities will conclude with a drone light show at approximately 9:15 p.m.

July is National Park and Recreation Month. Experience activities in your community this summer.

Featuring live music, food trucks, and an outdoor movie screening.

Volunteer

Volunteering for Lakewood is a great way to get involved, make an impact and meet fellow residents.

Volunteer when and where you can in the area(s) that you're most passionate about. Positions are broad in needs; some have weekday, evening and/or weekend availability. Volunteer positions within city parks are filled in the spring — applications are available during that time.
