We offer a variety of educational classes for youth during the year.


American Red Cross Babysitting training certification course prepares youth to safely and responsibly care for themselves and other children in the absence of parents or guardians. Please bring a sack lunch. Babysitter’s handbook and materials included in class fee.

Ages: 11 and up
Fee: $100 Resident, $120 Nonresident
Dates: May 16, June 27, July 25
Time/Day: 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday
Location: Lakewood Link Recreation Center

Sign Language


In these classes you will learn to fingerspell your own name, the alphabet and numbers as well as full words including colors, people, places, locations, food, animals and much more. Skills are learned through games and activities. All abilities welcome! First time participants will need to purchase the required course book at the first class for $15.

Ages: 14 and up
Fee: $50 Resident, $55 Nonresident
Beginner Dates: Tuesdays, June 2-July 30
Intermediate Dates: Tuesdays, July 14-August 11
Registration deadline: May 28 for Beginner, July 9 for Intermediate

Sign Language Practice

Looking to expand your skills but just need a setting in which to practice? This class is for you! Cultivate your skills by signing sentences and stories and playing games. New vocabulary is taught as needed.

Ages: 14 and up
Fee: $65 Resident, $79 Nonresident 
Dates: June 10-July 29
Time/Day: 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday
