Recycling is a vital component of environmental, economic and social sustainability. It reduces waste that would otherwise be sent to landfills, creates economic and job creation opportunities and provides residents with a greater sense of community responsibility.
The City of Lakewood currently offers its residents two locations to drop off recyclable materials. The newly remodeled and expanded Quail Street Recycling Center is for smaller, household items while the Rooney Road Recycling Facility is available for larger item and hazardous materials. More information about recycling in Lakewood is available in the section below or in the Quick Links to the right.
The recycling center is open 7 days a week with the exception of the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. Individuals and businesses are welcome to recycle accepted materials at no cost during the following hours:

As always, bags containing recyclables, trash, electronic devices and hazardous materials are not accepted.
City of Lakewood employees staff the center seven days a week, excluding major holidays. The staff provide direction on sorting recyclables, physical assistance when necessary, education on accepted recyclables and operate the solar-powered compactors.
The recycling center was remodeled to provide more convenient access to the site, allow part-time site attendants to assist site users and provide additional recycling services to users in the future.
