Veterans invited to Sept. 24 fair to learn about
benefits, connect with resources
More than 20
organizations that serve military veterans and their families will be
available at the West Metro Veterans Fair, 2-7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept.
24 at the Lakewood Link Recreation Center, 1295 S. Reed St.
Free and open to the public, the fair will allow active, retired and anyone
who served in the military and their families to learn about benefits, housing
options, health care, employment and counseling. There also will be
opportunities for one-on-one discussions with exhibitors at the fair.
Frederick Davis, retired sergeant of the U.S. Army, and Dr. Donald K.
Winter from the Denver VA Medical Center will speak to attendees at 3:30 p.m.
The City of Lakewood is hosting the fair to serve the veterans in
the community and to assist them with learning about their benefits,
resources or organizations serving military personnel. This is the fifth year
that Lakewood has hosted a fair to assist residents in connecting with
resources to aid in finding a job or with other needed community resources.
Previous fairs have served older adults looking for jobs, showcased volunteer
opportunities and helped the general public.
