'I love Lakewood' launches

Lakewood is celebrating Valentine’s Day with “I love Lakewood” videos of residents describing what they love about their city.

“I love living in Lakewood because I can bike to work every day. Lakewood is such a safe and bicycle friendly community. I can get my exercise in and get where I need to go every day,” one resident said.

A Lakewood mom loves the city’s family friendly programs and events. “Our favorite event is the cider festival that we try to go to every year,” she said. “Making memories is what it’s all about, and that’s why we love Lakewood.”

The #ILoveLakewoodCO video series is part of Lakewood’s 50th Anniversary celebration, which is commemorating the city’s incorporation in 1969. Watch the videos and see all the activities that residents can participate in during this celebration such as a weekly trivia question, a scavenger hunt, digital time capsule, events and more at Lakewood.org/50.

The city also launched a photo contest today for residents to show what they love about Lakewood. Residents can submit snapshots at Lakewood.org/50, and they can vote on each other’s submissions as their favorite. Every month, two winners – a city’s choice and a viewer’s choice – will receive a 50th anniversary prize package including stickers, commemorative pins, water bottles and T-shirts.
