Lakewood announces second annual trout fishing tournament

Bear Creek Lake Park is hosting its second annual trout fishing tournament on Saturday, June 22 on Bear Creek Reservoir, 15600 W. Morrison Road. The event kicks off at 6:30 a.m. with weigh-in concluding at 1:30 p.m.

Registration is $60 per team with space for 50 teams of two, one participant of which must be at least 16 years old and hold a Colorado fishing license.  There are 25 slots available for watercraft and 25 slots for the shore. The winning fish will be determined by weight and only brown or rainbow trout are eligible for entry.  Teams may submit two entries and once both fish have been weighed and entered, no other catch may be submitted for that team.  In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by length.  Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners.  Boats used for the competition must be inspected on Friday, June 21 and may be left inside the park overnight.  Live bait (aside from worms) will also be inspected prior to the start of the tournament.

If you think you've got what it takes to catch the big one, or want to have some fun, family fishing time at Bear Creek Lake Park, don't miss this opportunity!  Register by June 17 at www.Lakewood.org/FishingTournament.  For more information, please call 303-697-6159.
