Alameda Kiwanis to be recognized for contributions to Bear Creek Lake Park

Join Mayor Adam Paul and city staff for the “Exploration Ridge” play area ribbon-cutting at 3 p.m., Friday, April 19, honoring the Alameda Kiwanis club for its gracious contributions to the city and to accept a donation that will contribute to the new play area located in scenic Bear Creek Lake Park.

Beginning in 2017, the City of Lakewood partnered with the Kiwanis to build a natural play area next to the visitor’s center at Bear Creek Lake Park. The Kiwanis club has been an instrumental fundraising and volunteer partner, donating $30,000 and volunteer work days to build the play area. Several play features are complete including a bear sculpture that is climbable, a flagstone maze and a gazebo, with installations of a sand pit and more to occur later this year.

Located at 15600 W. Morrison Road, the park managed by Lakewood is the city’s largest and most frequently visited park, hosting 560,000 visitors in 2018.
