ID Your Horse, Of Course!
Lakewood's has a free, voluntary program that helps the city respond when a horse gets loose on the streets. Called the Horse Identification Program, it helps horse owners recover their animals more quickly. In rare instances when a horse is impounded, the owner is liable for all costs associated with the impoundment. This includes the $150 impound fee. Owners provide Lakewood's animal control sector with the name and phone number of a person to contact and other information that officers can access if a horse is out of its pen. Reaching horse owners quickly can help prevent property damage or injuries to horses and people. Use the the Horse Identification Program form (Adobe PDF) to register your horse. Send the form via fax, mail, or in person. Questions
or to participate, call 303-987-7173, option 3. |
