GENERAL ENGINEERING INFORMATION
The City's Engineering Division provides a variety of services related to design and construction of both public and private facilities. Public facilities include streets, sidewalks, and drainage facilities throughout Lakewood. Engineering provides design, survey and construction management for development of these public facilities (303-987-7900.) Maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and drainage is handled by the Public Works Maintenance Operations Division at 303-987-7950. Maintenance and operation of City buildings, parks and recreation facilities is handled by the Community Resources Department at 303-987-7800.
Plan review, permitting, and inspection of private buildings is provided by the Engineering Division at 303-987-7500. These services ensure buildings are constructed that achieve the safety provisions of building codes adopted by the City Council. All buildings, most remodels, and most additions to existing structures require permits. Work in the public rights-of-way also requires a permit. Call 303-987-7500 or stop by 480 South Allison Parkway in the Civic Center North building for further information (map, driving instructions).

Water distribution and sewage collection are City functions that the Engineering and Maintenance Operations Divisions are involved in for a limited geographic portion of Lakewood. There are nearly 20 different agencies that are not affiliated with the City that provide water and sewer services in other parts of the City. If you are unsure of who your utility provider(s) are, click here for a map of water providers or click here for a map of sewer utilities or call 303-987-7900 and we will help identify a contact for you. If you have a question about your water, sewer, or stormwater bill and the bill is from the City, call 303-987-7600.
