July is National Parks and Recreation Month!

OUT is IN! Time to get your family out of the house to celebrate National Parks and Recreation month in Lakewood!

Saturday Night Campfire Programs at Bear Creek Lake Park
Join us from 7:30-9 p.m. each Saturday in July for an evening of fun and education for the entire family! A different educational topic will be covered each week, and a marshmallow roast will follow, weather permitting. No registration required, park entry fee applies.

Whether you're looking to build strength or just add some relaxation to your week, yoga is the perfect fit! From beginners to prenatal, Flow to Nidra, Lakewood Recreation has a class to fit all interests and activity levels.

Treasure Hunt
5:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 22 at Bear Creek Lake Park
Come enjoy and outdoor treasure hunt! You will be provided with a GPS geocaching unit and tips needed to use it to find treasures scattered throughout the park. The event will conclude with a marshmallow roast and campfire (weather and fire ban permitting). Please register one family member as the team captain!

Cost: $25 resident team, $35 nonresident team

Enjoy the beauty of Addenbrooke Park while challenging yourself with a mix of interval training, plyometrics and agility training.

FREE Dance & Splash Zumbathon
Saturday, July 26 at Glennon Heights Pool
Join us from 10 a.m.-noon for FREE Zumba classes and refreshments! Start in the park with land Zumba from 10-11 a.m., then enjoy some refreshments before hitting the pool for aqua Zumba from 11:15-11:45 a.m.!

Sounds Exciting Summer Concerts!

Pack a picnic and enjoy a Sounds Exciting! summer concert under the stars at Wednesday nights at Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Amphitheater! These world-class concerts offer a variety of musical stylings, but are all family-friendly and affordable at just $7!

Outdoor Pools and Splash Parks

Outdoor Pools
Need to beat the heat? Head to a City of Lakewood pool or splash park! Outdoor pools open in late May at Carmody Recreation Center, Glennon Heights Park and Morse Park and stay open through Labor Day. Looking to cool of with younger kids? Visit the splash pads at Ray Ross Park or Surfside Spray Park!

Lakewood's Trail Running Series

Trail Running Series
Join us this fall at Bear Creek Lake Park for Lakewood's popular Trail Running Series! Race distances vary, but are no shorter than 4 miles and no longer than 8 miles. All races are at 6 p.m. and will start and end at Pelican Point. Park entry is free to registered runners.

September 10
September 17
September 24

Registration is $60 before September 1, and $65 after. Individual races are $25. Registration opens July 25, and includes either a race shirt or vest.
