Episode 2: "Rebuilding Places of the Heart"
Residents, business owners and community members are invited to attend a free film series that outlines the connections between community health and the way cities are built as part of the City’s celebration of National Community Planning Month. The panel discussion on the last Wednesday in October is titled “The Built Environment and Our Health: Designing Healthy Communities in the Denver Region.” The panel will consist of experts in planning, transportation and public health, and Jessica Osborne of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment will moderate the discussion. October is designated as National Community Planning Month by the American Planning Association as a way to highlight the importance of community planning, which establishes a vision for how a community will look, grow and define itself. The month-long celebration is an opportunity to recognize how planning shapes Lakewood and to honor the work of planners and residents in shaping their communities.
