City Charter

The City Charter establishes the legal right of the City to function as a home rule municipality. The original charter was adopted on November 1, 1983 and since has been amended by the Lakewood voters. The City Charter is provided in a word-searchable format on this website.

Municipal Code

The Lakewood Municipal Code is the compilation of the laws that govern the City. It is organized to make the laws of the City as accessible as possible to citizens, city officials, and city employees. The Lakewood Municipal Code is provided in a word-searchable format on this website.

Colorado Revised Statues

The Colorado Revised Statues (C.R.S.) are the current codified laws of the State of Colorado. Municipal codes and laws often reference or mirror state statutes.
