The Lakewood Police Department is asking Lakewood residents about their perceptions of public safety issues that affect their neighborhoods and the City, their perceptions about the effectiveness of the Police Department and their personal experiences as victims of crime. Randomly selected homes have been chosen for the survey that researchers at Washington State University are conducting for the Police Department. The households that have been chosen for the survey have received a postcard from the researchers, and the survey with a postage paid return envelope will follow. The information is vital to the City's efforts to improve the quality of life in Lakewood. The information will be recorded in such a fashion that no individual or address can be identified, and complete anonymity is assured. The police will receive only a summary of answers and comments and statistical analyses, not individual survey responses. If you receive a survey in the mail, please take the 20 minutes to complete
it. Your participation is critical to ensuring that the information from
the survey is representative of the City's population, and the police
want to thank you for your help. If you have questions, please call Dr.
Ben Menke at 303-795-1284. The survey also will form the basis for a series of neighborhood meetings the Police Department is planning for the first part of 2008.
