  Homicide Suspect Arrested

Lakewood police have arrested a suspect in a homicide that took place earlier this week. Investigative leads led to the identification and subsequent contact of a 16-year-old male who was taken into custody at about 1:30 this morning.

At about 1:25 Tuesday morning, Lakewood police were called to 5664 W. Mexico Ave., after shots were fired from a passing vehicle, into an open garage where several people had gathered.

21-year-old Christopher A. Pacheco (08-25-85) was a resident of the address and was in the garage when he was struck by the gunfire. Pacheco was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. There were no other injuries in the apparent drive-by shooting.

Due to the juvenile status of the suspect his identity cannot be released. Police continue their investigation but have made no additional arrests. It is unknown when the juvenile suspect will make his first
