Lakewood Liquor Authority Suspends Store's License

April 13, 2007:
During their meeting last night, the Lakewood Liquor Authority suspended the retail liquor license of the Alameda Square Discount Liquor store. The store must close today and remain so until at least April 24, when the Liquor Authority will meet again.

After receiving information that minors were possibly purchasing liquor at the store, the Lakewood Police Department began investigating the establishment. As a result, early this month police agents witnessed three separate violations involving the sale of liquor to minors.

The minors who purchased liquor were not part of a police "sting" operation and indicated that they knew other minors who had made purchases there.

At the April 24 hearing, a determination will be made as to whether additional suspension or revocation of the establishment's liquor license will take place.
