Sex Offender Flyers Posted in Lakewood

The Lakewood Police Department has been receiving numerous inquiries regarding flyers posted on the doors of many Lakewood homes in recent days. The information alerts residents about a sex offender living in the neighborhood.

The flyers list a web site, which when accessed, asks the visitor to pay for a list of sex offenders in their area.

These flyers are part of the promotion of a private business. The Lakewood Police Department does not endorse this site or this practice.

The official Sex Offender list for the City of Lakewood is available by visiting the Records Section of the Lakewood Police Department at 445 South Allison Parkway.

Additionally citizens may access the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's list at http://sor.state.co.us/

Similar flyers have been placed in the cities of Broomfield, Thornton, Arvada and in Jefferson County in recent weeks.
