Accounting

The Accounting Division is responsible for the administration of all financial record keeping and reporting functions. These functions include accounting, cash receipts, employee payroll, providing departments with revenue and expenditure information concerning grant activities, accounts receivables, the coordination of vendor payments in accordance with City policies, and utility billing and collection.

The Division is also responsible for providing interim budget versus actual financial reporting during the year, which is essential in the monitoring of budgeted targets for both revenues and expenditures. The office works closely with Finance Administration to provide detailed assistance in the preparation of the annual City budget and under the guidance of the City's external auditors, prepares the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

The City of Lakewood currently employs the external audit firm of Swanhorst & Company LLC. They can be reached at 720-528-4306 should you need additional information concerning the firm or the audit of the City of Lakewood.

In addition, the Division is responsible for the billing and collection of payments for the City's Water, Sewer, and Stormwater Utilities, as well as any customer service inquiry for utilities.
