How long have you lived in Lakewood?
My family and I moved to Lakewood in 2015.
What motivated you to enter public service?
I have been involved in our community through programs such as 40 West Arts which is working to revitalize the historic corridor along West Colfax and serving on the Lakewood Advisory Commission for six years. The passion to serve our community is still strong and what motivated me to finally agree to enter public service was seeing that some of our leaders had lost sight of the importance of civility. We can engage in vigorous debate and disagree, but we can do so respectfully and focus on doing the hard work to get things done.
What issues are you most passionate about?
I want to find ways to increase homeownership opportunities, build safe neighborhoods with a thriving entrepreneurial business community that provides good-paying jobs while preserving and expanding our parks and open spaces. We should look for ways to make Lakewood a better place to live, work, and play for all of us.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Working on city council has become my “spare time!” I enjoy cooking and laughing with family and friends; escaping to the outdoors to hike and camp; and you will often find me within easy reach of a book.
What is your professional and educational background?
I have an undergraduate degree in finance and a graduate degree in law. As a lawyer, I strive to listen carefully, research the issues, look for areas of common ground, and work hard to accomplish my client’s goals. These are the same traits that I want to use to serve Ward 4 and all of Lakewood.
