The Lakewood Advisory Commission was established to serve in an advisory role to City Council, involving citizens more directly to provide public input. The Lakewood Advisory Commission's mission is to support Lakewood as a vibrant and inclusive community by being an advocate and informed voice for the community by providing research and recommendations on local issues to the City Council.
The Lakewood Advisory Commission is made up of four committees consisting of 25 members. The Advisory Commission committees bring forward initiatives or issues, which the commission deems important for consideration by City Council. The Lakewood Advisory Commission committees may receive assignments from City Council to research specific issues or topics that interest the community and then make recommendations accordingly. All Advisory Commission meetings are open to the public and citizen participation is encouraged. The Lakewood Advisory Commission researches specific issues or topics that interest the community and then makes recommendations to City Council. Quarterly reports summarize assignments and projects of the Commission.
