The City of Lakewood is proud to host a wide variety of outdoor public art throughout the city, as well as a range of ongoing and rotating art exhibitions and fascinating historic exhibitions.

All exhibits are free.
Indoor exhibits are open during all normal hours of operation.

Exhibitions

The City of Lakewood is proud to host ongoing and rotating exhibitions that highlight the work of local and national artists, as well as informative and unique historic exhibitions. All exhibitions are free to the public.

Three galleries are located within Lakewood Cultural Center, one within Lakewood Civic Center, and two within Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park.

Public Art

Since the early 1990s, the City of Lakewood has welcomed installations of public art. Thanks to local partnerships and generous donations, the collection now consists of over 50 pieces.

Apprentice/Mentor: Portraits of Lakewood

Jan. 17 - Mar. 31 l Apprentice/Mentor: Portraits of Lakewood in the Lakewood Civic Center's Richey Gallery.

Instrumental

From Jan. 17 until Mar. 31 l "Instrumental" investigates how music, sound and instrumentation play a role in an artist’s creation and understanding of an artwork. From the tiniest, most intricate work of luthiers to visual artists who invite viewers to interact with artworks.

Abstract Artist Kevin Mills

Jan. 17 - Feb. 28 l From architect to abstract artist, Kevin Mills has always had a visionary sense of the aesthetic and has held influence in the creative community. In January and February, the Corner Gallery in the Lakewood Cultural Center is thrilled to present Mills’ most recent body of artwork.

Lakewood Arts Member Show

Sep 17 - Jan 6 l Lakewood Arts Member Show in the Mezzanine Gallery, this fall through the end of the year, is an annual highlight of the Lakewood Cultural Center's presentation of local arts organizations.

Jeffco Schools Foundation Middle School Art Show

Featuring the work of instructors currently teaching in Jefferson County elementary, middle and high schools. Artwork includes a wide variety of mediums including painting, photography, mixed media, fiber and pottery
