Try your hand at pickleball or tennis, and take advantage of the open field to fly a kite in this quiet retreat on South Simms Street. This quiet neighborhood park is owned by the Glennon Height's Homeowner's Association and leased to the city.
On June 10, 2019, City Council renamed South Simms Street Park the James E. Harrison Park to honor the former Tuskegee Airman for his years of service to the Lakewood community. James E. Harrison worked on the incorporation of the city, led the Glennon Heights Homeowner's Association, and led the neighborhood watch program for many years prior to his death in 2010. A new park sign was installed on July 16, 2019 as well as a memorial plaque in his honor. A park dedication ceremony was held on August 26.
Shared tennis/pickleball courts can be reserved online seasonally (not available in the winter). Make a one-time reservation.
