James J. Richey Park

James J. Richey Park and sign

Named for Lakewood’s first mayor, this site functions for both recreation and flood mitigation. Dry Gulch Creek runs through its center and the park is designed for stormwater detention to protect downstream homes.

Park improvements include a playground, play field, horseshoe pits and a 1/3-mile loop trail. The West Line light rail and trail forms the south edge of the park.
