Monday Mile Challenge

Next date: Monday, January 20, 2025 | 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM

Six Monday mile participants in three photos.

Walk a Monday mile and you could win! Start your year on an active note and get moving on Mondays. Each time you participate and log your mile below, you'll be entered into a drawing for prizes. Photos encouraged!

How it works:

  1. Each Monday from January 6 until February 10, walk, roll, or move in place for a mile - or as much as you're able to.
  2. Log your mile by completing the form below. Entries are due by midnight on Monday.
  3. That's it! For every week you log, you'll be entered into the drawing.
  4. Each entry is valid toward a chance to win a Lakewood Recreation gift card.
  5. See below for suggestions on where to walk.

Locations: Weekly walking destinations

Lakewood is home to over 100 parks, many with both paved and unpaved trails. We have suggestions of parks to explore each week, but feel free to explore in your neighborhood or at any park. The important thing is to get out and get moving.

Jan. 6: Peak View Park: 2350 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227
Head south to this new Lakewood Park. Peak view park offers a .78 mile paved path, with an additional .61 miles of natural surface trail, and .17 miles of gravel path. The entire outer loop is 1.42 miles.

Jan: 13: Bellows Park: 1070 Quail St., Lakewood, CO 80215
This path follows along Lakewood Gulch for half a mile.  To make your walk longer, cross over Oaks St and you will connect with Sunset Park which has an additional .61 miles of paved trail.

Jan 20: Addenbrooke Park: 600 S. Kipling Parkway, Lakewood, CO 80226
Walk the path around the soccer fields and the lake to earn your mile. If you want to explore more, walk south and see the fitness court or explore the path all the way out to Kipling.

Jan 27: Union Ridge Park: 500 Zang St., Lakewood, CO 80228
Right off the 6th avenue frontage road you will find this park, boasting the best sledding hill in Lakewood. The .9 mile loop trail will earn you your entry to the Monday Mile!

Feb 3: Belmar Park: 801 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226
There are several miles of trail weaving around Kountze Lake. You can begin your walk at Heritage Lakewood Belmar Parks’ parking lot or even walk over from the Belmar or Lakewood City Commons shopping area.

Feb 10: Forsberg-Iron Spring Park: 14800 W. Alameda Pkwy., Lakewood, CO 80228
Head west on Alameda and you will find this beautiful park. Take in the great views of the Front Range and enjoy a nice walk on the half a mile paved loop. If you would like to turn your walk into a hike there is easy access to William F. Hayden Park from here.
