Our workforce is the main asset Lakewood has for businesses and community. There are more than 75,000 jobs in the city of Lakewood. Over 65% of our population has some college education and 38% has at least a bachelor’s degree. With a wide range of skill sets and expertise, employees are spread across all industries in Lakewood.

Lakewood Universities & Community Colleges

Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) Lakewood Campus lies on 140 acres in the foothills of Jefferson County, is minutes from downtown Denver to the east and the Rocky Mountains to the west.  The campus is situated on a bus line and is also walking distance from an RTD Light Rail Stop.  RRCC offers more than 150 programs and 650 courses leading to two-year degrees or professional certificates.  The college is one of the only colleges in the nation to offer a master's degree in Physician Assistant studies.

Colorado Christian University (CCU) delivers world-class education to thousands of students and offers more than 50 accredited degrees and programs.  The CCU Cougars participate in both NCAA Division II and NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). The Cougars compete in 16 intercollegiate sports, with over 300 athletes between the teams, and currently compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  CCU is currently undergoing a major campus renovation that is scheduled to take 7–9 years to complete at a cost of over $120 million.

Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design's campus is nestled along the West Colfax Avenue corridor and is an innovative, rigorous, and community-oriented global learning environment that inspires passion for critical thinking and prepares learners to be forces of change in the creative industries, our communities, and the world.  Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). RMCAD is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). RMCAD is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA).

The Jefferson County Business and Workforce Center promotes economic vitality by identifying, developing and matching a talented workforce to business. From innovative work-based learning programs to job fairs, they are ready to meet your needs. Offering a variety of tools to complement your recruiting and training strategy, the center will connect your business with the most qualified job seekers. 

 Employment Centers

There are five employment centers in Lakewood.  Academy Park, Denver West, Downtown Lakewood and Belmar, Lakewood Tech Center, Union Boulevard and the Federal Center is where the majority of Lakewood jobs are located. Each center has its own unique characteristics and business composition.
