The Board of Adjustment, a quasi-judicial(PDF, 87KB) body, consists of seven members appointed by the Lakewood City Council to serve four-year terms. The members of the Board of Adjustment shall be those individuals appointed to serve as the Planning Commission. The Board hears and makes decisions on requests by property owners for variances from development regulations. The most common requests for variances relate to setbacks, fences and building heights. The Board also hears and makes decisions on appeals from any order, requirement, decision or determination made by any administrative official charged with enforcement of the zoning ordinance. All decisions are made by a majority vote of the members present at the meeting.
