Upcoming Events and Outreach
Bike to Work Day
Thank you to everyone who rode their bikes on Bike to Work Day in June! Throughout the Denver metro region roughly 19,000 cyclists participated and Lakewood saw over 200 visitors at our 4 city-hosted stations.
Bicycle Plan update
The city’s Bicycle Plan is currently being updated, and we need your input! The update began in April 2024 and is expected to be completed in spring of 2025.The first wave of community engagement ended on June 30, but the project team will be seeking more public input in the fall. Visit the project page at LakewoodTogether.org/BikePlanUpdate to find more information on the goals of the Plan update, the project timeline and upcoming opportunities to be involved.
Bike Valet parking at Cider Days
Did you know that every year there is free Bike Valet parking at Cider Days? If you’re planning on coming to the celebration at Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park on Oct. 5 or 6, skip the busy parking lots and shuttles and ride your bike—without having to worry about leaving it unattended while you enjoy the event! Bikes of all shapes and sizes are accepted. Every rider gets a coupon for $1 off a non-alcoholic cider.
Interested in volunteering at the Bike Valet and getting free entry into the event? Email Jenny Gritton at jeagri@lakewood.org and let her know you’d like to sign up for a volunteer shift.
Separated Bike Lanes are finally here
Lakewood’s first three separated bike lanes are officially installed. Check out the newly upgraded bike lanes—separated from vehicle traffic by a combination of white plastic curbs and posts—on Denver West Parkway, Harlan Street near Alameda Avenue, and Garrison Street between Jewell and Alameda avenues. These lanes are an exciting step toward improving bicycle safety and investing in active modes of transportation. Visit the official project page at LakewoodTogether.org/SeparatedBikeLanes for more information about the project and the opportunity to ask the project staff any questions you may have.
Future bicycle-related events and opportunities for community engagement will be posted on this page. Lakewood Together is also a great resource for finding updates and giving feedback on current projects happening in Public Works, Parks and more.
