Street Cleaning

Lakewood street sweeper.

Public Works is responsible for sweeping streets. In addition to helping keep the city clean, regular street sweeping helps control air and water pollution. During warm weather months (April 1 to Nov. 1), city crews sweep busy arterial and collector streets an average of once every ten days. Residential streets are swept four times during this period.

During winter months, the city concentrates on sweeping sanded snow routes. Busy arterial and collector streets are swept as soon as possible after every snowstorm. Minor collector and residential streets that are sanded are swept once every three weeks (weather permitting). Sweeping crews also respond to requests for street cleaning as resources allow.
