Liquor and Beer Licenses

Chapter 5.39 - Entertainment Districts. The purpose of this Chapter is to authorize the designation of entertainment districts int eh City, to provide for the creation of common consumption areas within such entertainment districts, and to establish provisions for the certification and regulation promotional associations, all in accordance with C.R.S 44-3-101 et seq.

Please contact the City Clerk's Office for Entertainment District, Common Consumption Areas, and Promotional Association applications. You can also schedule a meeting in-person or on the phone by clicking the "Request Meeting" above.

To acquire a liquor/beer license at an unlicensed location, an entity must complete a new application packet from the City of Lakewood and the State of Colorado.

THE PROCESS TO OBTAIN A LIQUOR LICENSE TAKES 4 - 6 MONTHS

To obtain the City of Lakewood New Application Packet, please contact the City Clerk's Office at 303-987-7080.

You will also need to download the State of Colorado forms:

Liquor Retail License Application - DR 8404 or DR 8403 and the Individual History Record - DR 8404-I

Once the city and state applications are completed and additional documents obtained, schedule an appointment with the Liquor Licensing Specialist to review and turn in the application packet and fees.

To transfer an existing liquor/beer license, an entity must complete a transfer of ownership application packet from the city and state.

THE PROCESS TO OBTAIN A LIQUOR LICENSE TAKES 4-6 MONTHS

To obtain the City of Lakewood Transfer of Ownership packet, contact the City Clerk's Office at 303-987-7080.

You will also need to download the State of Colorado forms:

License Application form - DR 8404 or DR 8403, including DR 8495 waiver. 
                                            - Individual History Record - DR 8404-I
                                            - Affidavit - Restrictions on Public Benefits - DR 4679     

Once the city and state applications are completed and additional documents obtained, schedule an appointment with the Liquor Licensing Specialist to review and turn in the application packet and fees. 

Liquor/Beer renewal process

All liquor/beer licensees must register a manager unless owner is acting as manager with the City of Lakewood. Managers of the following types of licenses must pay a $30.00 fee to the city of Lakewood and the Colorado Department of Revenue:

• Hotel & Restaurant
• Lodging & Entertainment
• Club
• Tavern

Any changes to the licensed premises, management, corporate officers, directors, shareholders, or managing members should be reported to the City Clerk’s Office immediately to ensure compliance with local and state laws and regulations.

An alcohol beverage tastings permit allows a retail liquor store or liquor-licensed drugstore to conduct sample tastings of alcoholic beverages within their establishment.
