We keep wheels turning, traffic moving, streets paved and plowed, utilities flowing, stormwater drained, buildings permitted, construction inspected and provide other nuts-and-bolts services to maintain and plan Lakewood's infrastructure.

Building plans are reviewed ensuring that buildings in Lakewood are in substantial compliance with all applicable building codes.

Trash Pickup
Several private trash collection companies operate within Lakewood.  You may want to visit with your neighbors and consider using the same collection company to decrease the number of trash trucks driving on your street and to minimize the days each week when trash is collected in your neighborhood.

Flood plain permits are required for all grading or construction in the flood plain, including fences, sheds, decks and retaining walls. Call 303-987-7500 for more information. 

The National Flood Insurance Program is a federal program that allows property owners to purchase insurance protection against losses from flooding. Visit Floodsmart.gov for more information, and contact your insurance agent to purchase flood insurance.

Report spills or illegal dumping into the stormwater system

  • Call 303-980-7300
  • Remember: water flows downhill, and water picks up everything.
  • Water flows to our springs, creeks and drinking water supply. Do your part to keep our water clean! Dumping liquid or solid waste into a storm drain or creek is a crime.
  • If you see suspicious activities, such as illegal dumping or spills, please report them to the Lakewood Police.

The Fleet Management Division supports City departments in the acquisition, maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles.  With facilities located at the Quail St. maintenance campus, Fleet Management provides City vehicle operators with 24/7 fueling.

 

Blue-Seal-of-Excellence The Fleet Management Division consists of eight ASE certified mechanics, a fleet maintenance supervisor and a fleet manager. Together they operate a 10-bay facility servicing an internal fleet of 650 heavy and light duty vehicles and equipment. The City of Lakewood Fleet Management Division is an ASE Blue Seal Certified automotive repair facility.
Vehicles are purchased through various cooperative agreements and bid processes. When vehicles are retired from the City's fleet, they are publicly auctioned.
